The newest version of MDaemon will be available for download on Wednesday, September 5th. The new release sees a number of new features to help IT administrators and end users alike, such as:
  • Message ticketing support
  • Consolidated Mobile Device Management (MDM) interface and ActiveSync policies
  • Hijacked account detection
  • Document sharing, drag & drop attachments and custom logos in WorldClient
  • Traffic compression to improve Outlook Connector performance

So on to part 2 of my look at the new MDaemon 13 beta... I mentioned ActiveSync policies in my last post, well version 13 also sees the addition of one extra small, but very nice feature, in the ability to simplify the self sign-up process for mobile devices using the Autodiscover process. By removing the necessity to know the public DNS name or IP address of your MDaemon server, all a user now needs to connect their mobile device is their email address and password.

Zen Software at Infosec We're but a few weeks away from the annual industry pilgrimage to Earls Court for the biggest of the IT and security shows in this country, InfoSecurity Europe. Each year IT professionals (and the not-so) gather at InfoSec to take in keynote talks from industry experts, strengthen relationships with customers and suppliers, keep an eye on the competition and of course, pick up plenty of promotional tat for the kids. This year will be slightly different however, as visitors will notice that the show's noticeably better than previous ones thanks to the addition of the Zen Software stand in the new exhibitor area. It's possible I'm overestimating the impact we'll have but in any case, we're genuinely pleased to be a part of the show and that we'll be down there unashamedly flogging our wares in our compact but charming booth (K94).

I'm slightly concerned that the news of a virtual information blackout yesterday may have detracted somewhat from the REALLY big stories that were breaking. Yes, had you have been paying proper attention you'd have noticed two new product updates from our Texan friends over at developer Alt-N Technologies. Ok, so it's possible I'm overhyping these a fraction but if you're a user of either product they're worth knowing about all the same.

Today I want to highlight two very different automatic features of WorldClient, autoresponders and autocomplete. Totally unrelated but both useful features that help Outlook users feel at home. Autorespondersauto-responder.jpg WorldClient makes it very easy to setup and schedule an 'Out of office' Autoresponder, often used over holiday periods but also useful when you know you're going to be out of the office.
