Never ones to be caught napping, German developer MailStore today announced the release of version 9.5 of MailStore Server, which provides the leading email archiving solution with full support for Microsoft Exchange 2016.
Weak passwords are the most common method by which email accounts and servers can become compromised by spammers.
The great news is that Exchange alternative MDaemon Messaging Server, now offers an easy way to identify when somebody's using one that isn't secure via a simple but effective new reporting feature.
Whether you then decide to name and shame, or just to give them a friendly nudge is entirely up to your discretion! :).

In a recent blog post I talked about how MailStore can help manage and speed up the unenviable task of migrating all of your historic Exchange 2003 email to MDaemon Messaging Server.
The point at which you're moving email platform is ideal to be introducing an archiving solution like MailStore. Primarily because it will aid with the migration process itself, but also because it will manage your mailbox sizes on an ongoing basis too.
With this in mind, we're offering a very healthy 50% off new MailStore licences to Exchange 2003 owners who are purchasing a new MDaemon licence of any size.
One the biggest challenges you're likely to come across if you're considering upgrading from Exchange 2003 to an alternative email platform, is how to move the colossal volumes of email you're likely to have amassed over the years.

Back in April 2014, support for Exchange 2003 was officially brought to a close by Microsoft. Among those impacted were the vast number of smaller companies using the hugely popular Small Business Server 2003.
Many moved across to alternative solutions early doors, but faced with unwanted expense and the potential for significant disruption, many sensibly remained firmly in the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" camp, putting off the decision for as long as possible.
We've just put the latest major iteration of MDaemon Messaging Server live on our web site. Along with a long list of minor tweaks it includes some great new features for both admins and users alike.
In this post I briefly highlight the new additions I think you'll find most interesting, including a real breakthrough for Mac users and further enhancements to the email encryption features.

Our Australian friends over at BackupAssist have been working hard to make sure v9 is the best release yet. They could however, really do with your help in testing the Beta version (released this morning) to make sure it's as good as it possible can be come the final release.
As the distributor we like to provide as much feedback as we can, but we also rely on the fantastic response we always receive from customers and partners to help make sure we've got the broadest testing base.
Please note - As a beta product, we do not recommend using this version of BackupAssist v9 on live or production machines.
