How to hard reset BackupAssist Licenses

To reset your installation of BackupAssist so it has no licenses recorded in the software perform the following steps:

  1. Ensure you’ve taken a copy of the existing keys in Help -> Licenses and if possible deactivate them.
  2. Stop the BackupAssist Service from the Windows Services Manager.
  3. Navigate to C:\ProgramData\BackupAssist v*\configuration and delete the following files:

    CortexIT.Licensing.ActivationManager.config
    CortexIT.Licensing.ProductManager.config

  4. Start the BackupAssist Service.
  5. Enter and activate your license key details again via Help -> Licencing.
